Halesowen already has two coats of arms, the inspiration that the designer used for the tartanI is the older medieval one.
The main colour of the plaid is royal blue, that being the main heraldic and sporting colour of the town. In the centre is a band of white representing the chevron from the original coat of arms with a thin ‘outline’ in yellow referencing the adaptation of the original arms used for the original grammar school and various sports teams. The navy blue section was added to make the overall design look more balanced and has sometimes been used as a sporting colour in the town as well as of royal blue. The three lines of yellow make reference to the three golden fleur-de-lys in the arms. It can be bought at www.heartlandheritagewear.com
Woven by Marton Mills.
