Breifne (District)
  • Notes: An Irish district tartan created by Jeffrey Fitzsimmons of the USA to honour the ancient kingdom of Br?ifne whose origins lie in 8th century Ireland. The dark green and aquamarine represent the lush hills, woods and lakes of the area. Grey and black are in remembrance of the grey wolf (canis lupus) which was hunted to extinction in Ireland but which is now expriencing a resurgence of preservation efforts from various quarters including that of the designer. Free for any weaver to produce.
