Colville (Personal)
  • Notes: This tartan started life as an unidentified 18th century tartan (6774) but in 2002 was adopted by the Colville family of Edmonton, Alberta as a personal and private family tartan and it was woven by Fraser & Kirkbright of Vancouver. In July 2005 the head of the family, Captain James Leslie Colville CD requested that the STA 'formalise' this for him in their records and he explained that the tartan had been chosen in the light of therer being no 'official' Colville clan or family tartan available.* There are two colour versions of the tartan, a darker Hunting one for the sole use of Capt Colville and a Dress one with a brighter red and yellow for the family. The significance of the colours is recorded in the STA archives."
