  • Notes: Hampden-Sydney College was founded in 1775. The tartan uses the College's official colours, 'Garnet & Grey'. These colours were originally worn by the 'Hampden-Sydney Boys', a company of millitia formed in 1776. The colours were officially adopted by the College when intercollegiate athletics were introduced in the 1890s. Intended for the corporate use of Hampden-Sydney College only.
