Tartan Ferret
Test

Highland Society of London

In 1815 the Highland Society of London resolved to send out to all parts of the Highlands to collect samples of the tartans of the clans. The samples were sealed with the signature of the chief.

The Jack Dalgety archives have the following notes in reference to the Highland Society collection:

" 2 large leather bound folios. 1 large wooden box packed with 4 boxes of tartan patterns. 2 specially made wooden boxes each containing a large volume of MacIan/Logan work illustrated in colour."

It's believed the above are all now in the care of the National Museum of Scotland.
