Keith Kilt School
Discover what makes a bespoke
by learning an age old skill!
We are proud to continue teaching this
age old tradition of Handsewn Kilts and our students are taught by
a qualified kiltmaker to make traditional bespoke kilts from 8 - 9
metres of Superior Tartan woven in Scotland.
Our suppliers are House of Edgar,
Lochcarron, Strathmore and DC Dalgliesh. The students handstitch
the pleats in the traditional fashion and only the waist is machine
receive a Certificate from the Keith Kilt and Textile Centre
after successfully completing your first handmade
made to measure kilt.
This does not mean that they are a
qualified Kiltmaker, only that they have received training
at the Keith Kilt and Textile Centre. Only when they gain
their certificate for the SQA Customised Award in Kiltmaking,
available only from KKTC, can they state that they have trained at
the Keith Kilt School. We recommend that a customer asks to see the
Kiltmaker's certificate if they claim that they have been trained
at the school.
