Heritage Title
from Raphael Tuck's 1906 Historical Postcard Series of Scottish Clans

Jamie Scarlett MBE has very kindly donated to the Authority, his collection of antique Scottish Clan Postcards produced almost 100 years ago by the famous Raphael Tuck company of London. Each card shows the clan tartan, emblem, plant and either the traditional clan seat or a picturesque landscape from the clan's traditional 'stomping ground.'

These delightful and evocative paintings are a unique historical reminder of the immediate post Victorian period and are now available from the Scottish Tartans Authority as Melamine* Table Mats measuring 276mm x 196mm (approx 11 x 8 inches). Each mat has been faithfully reproduced from the original - complete with the slight scuff marks and the age blemishes that you would expect in a 98 year old! They radiate a fascinating aura of a much-loved and graceful bygone era.

With a choice of 38 designs, each mat is individually produced for us by our suppliers in Perthshire and with no minimum quantity, this means that you can buy as few as you like and can Mix 'n' Match if you wish - either buying six or ten of the same Clan or six or ten (or however many you want!) of different clans. The latter option is ideal for restaurants, bars and bistros seeking a genuine Scottish historical theme.

The range of postcards cannot match the number of clans in existence back in 1906 but the list is on the right plus the small selection of paintings of Scottish pipers from the same series. Illustrations of each follow on this and on subsequent pages. If you wish to place an order, just click on Shop where you can make your choice and pay for it by credit card using our secure, encrypted,  online payment system.
