We have over 50 years' experience in the manufacture of tartan hose, diced hose and hose tops. We make both fully fashioned and seamfree hose. The yarn used is spun and dyed to our specification and then folded to 4ply for knitting. Our marls can therefore have up to four colours, so we can match most tartans.

I began to do some research on the historical origins of the kilt. As a professional seamstress, I was quickly enthralled by all of the different aspects that this research uncovered. In recent years, excellent kiltmakers have brought back into fashion a pleat that was popular in the XVIIIth century, the box pleat. Its stylishness quickly seduced hundreds of kilt wearers throughout the world. It is elegant, light, and . . . thrifty ! In my view as well as that of my kilt-wearing man ( a descendant of clans MacKinnon and Donnachaidh), there was still something missing from the superb Box Pleat to seduce us quite completely. This little something is what is called "swish"; that is to say the movement, flow, and body that the Knife Pleat offers.
The idea came to us that by making a kilt with a doubled Box Pleat, we would obtain the desired effect. Thus was born the very first Double Box Pleat Kilt, whose qualities are now applauded by kilt wearers around the world.
